Apparently, I will be posting new content to the blog on a yearly basis. Sooooo, here is my 2012 contribution to the blogosphere:
Sarcasm aside, this time, I really will start writing more often. I am also going to be getting my website back into shape. I'm thinking it wasn't a good idea to have the year shown so prominently in the design, because I have to do a big wave of editing to every page every year. But then again, maybe that will encourage me to keep it up to date. Anyway, I mostly need to finish the portfolio portion and update the resume, and then I should be good to go for a while.

Diversity
I had to answer a question about diversity several months ago on an application for a leadership program. I didn't get accepted to the program, but I was quite proud of a paragraph I wrote for that application, and I wanted to share.

Catching up
It's been a while since I last posted, so I guess I should catch up on a few things.
I took the California Supplemental Exam 4 weeks ago and, true to form for the State beaurocracy, I haven't received the results yet. (fingers crossed)
The healthcare reform bill passed with great fanfare or consternation, depending on which side of the political spectrum you were on. I see it as a great step forward and a major accomplishment against great odds. I, and quite a few others, lost a lot of faith in whether the bill would pass after Scott Brown's election to the Senate, and after President Obama's State of the Union speech. Speaker Pelosi really came through, in my opinion.
I will be starting a new job with the Census at the end of the month. Obviously the work will only be temporary, but work is work. I'm looking forward to getting out in the community, maybe getting some exercise and meeting some new people. I'm excited about performing a job that is actually written into the Constitution.
There was finally some significant job growth around the country last month. Hopefully the economy has turned the corner and job growth will continue.

Success!
It may be a small thing, but I have achieved a measure of success with my personal website. It is now the first result that Google presents when you search for my name.

The 2010's will be a very interesting decade in the battle for supremacy in the digital age. Microsoft has surely been King for a while, but Google is hot on their heals. If I had to guess, I would be on Google to win the war.
After spending the last few weeks navigating the Google universe by setting up a website on Google Sites, with comments supported by Google Documents, and a blog by Blogger, I spent the weekend in Microsoft world.
